South Iceland Waterfalls & Glacier Hiking Adventure | Day Tour

Skógafoss is one of the waterfalls of the South Coast, and possibly the most memorable.
South Iceland's Sólheimajökull glacier is defined by ridges, crevasses and icy plains.
Walk across the ancient ice of Sólheimajökull on the South Coast, and hold it in your hands.
In summer, under good conditions, visitors to the South Coast can fully encircle the waterfall Seljalandsfoss.
A completely naturally formed ice tunnel on Sólheimajökull in South Iceland adds a unique twist to this glacier hike.
To hike the glaciers of the South Coast, you need a helmet, ice axe, and crampons, which your guide will provide at the base of Sólheimajökull.

Visit the stunning Skógafoss waterfall, hike over Sólheimajökull glacier, and walk behind the cascade Seljalandsfoss on this South Coast adventure tour. Those wanting to pack as much action into one day as possible should let this chance slip them by.

You'll be picked up from Reykjavík in the morning, and then your adventure begins. First up on the itinerary is one of Iceland’s biggest waterfalls, Skógafoss. This striking beauty is one of the most visited waterfalls in all of Iceland and one of the superstars of the South Coast.

Those who are up for the challenge can climb up all 527 steps to the waterfall's observation deck for a unique perspective over the surrounding countryside. If you’re lucky, you’ll have a sunny day and see big rainbows through the waterfall's mist.

From Skógafoss you'll travel to Sólheimajökull glacier for a thrilling two-hour hike through a glacial landscape featuring jagged peaks and expansive views.

The otherworldly landscape is full of ice ridges sinkholes and streams that run across the ice, providing you with fantastic photo opportunities. The layers of the glacier are a real testament to the natural catastrophes that the ice has endured throughout the years, with ash, pumice and sands forming layer after layer.

Having an experienced glacier guide and proper equipment is necessary for a safe journey. Thankfully, all that is included on this tour, so you don’t need to worry about anything other than bringing proper hiking shoes and warm clothing.

On the way back to the city, you will stop at Seljalandsfoss, one of South Iceland’s most notable waterfalls. It’s fed by melting water from the infamous glacier-capped Eyjafjallajökull volcano.

The walking path that runs behind the curtain of Seljalandsfoss enables you to enjoy the exquisite view of a waterfall from behind. If you choose to do that, rain gear is recommended, as the journey around the fall will most certainly get you wet.

This unique South Iceland experience is not to be missed. Book now to create memories that will last you a lifetime. Check availability by choosing a date.
