Secrets of the South Coast | Sightseeing & Glacier Hiking Day Tour

Fully booked
Overlooking a glacier lagoon from the ice cap.
The ice caps are dotted with deep crevasses, large ice walls and ice caves.
Nothing can beat that feeling of achievement after hiking up a glacier for the first time.
Given the sheer size of the glaciers themselves, its understandable to feel like a tiny speck of dust in comparison.
Skógafoss is a waterfall along the South Coast of Iceland.
Seljalandsfoss is one of the major waterfalls and sightseeing stops along the South Coast.

Experience the joys of both sightseeing and glacier hiking on Iceland's picturesque South Coast with this fantastic tour. This is a great opportunity for travellers looking to balance some calm sightseeing with a shot of adventurous activity.

After being picked up from your accommodation in Reykjavík, you will be driven along the South Coast to the first stops of the day, the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Both considered gems in this region, the former is a narrower cascade and can be walked directly behind, whilst the latter offers a staircase to the very top of the falls. Both waterfalls are surrounded by gorgeous natural scenery and stand at 60 metres high.

Next up on this tour is the black sand beach, Reynisfjara, renown for its volcanic pebbles, intricate basalt columns and dangerous sleeper waves. In 1991, this beach was voted as among the top ten most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world, making this stop a real treat for the senses.

You will then head to Sólheimajökull for your glacier hike, one of the most adventurous and authentically Icelandic activities available in the country. Sólheimajökull is an outlet glacier of the much bigger Mýrsdalsjökull ice cap, only proving the sheer enormity of these incredible natural features.

Once you are all geared up for the glacier walk, you'll hike a short 15 minutes to the roots of the glacier. Once on the ice, you will hike to Sólheimajökull plateau, from where you will be privy to an amazing view of the glacier itself,  as well the rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean and the lid of a nearby supervolcano; Katla.

Hiking along, you will experience the hidden secrets of the glaciers, the moulins and the crevasses, the dirt cones and the ancient ash from neighbouring volcanoes, the intricate ice sculptures... all are waiting to be discovered!

So don't delay any longer! Hurry now, and you too can experience an unforgettable day comprised of fantastic sights and incredible adventure. Check availability by choosing a date.
