Glymur Waterfall Day Tour

Glymur Waterfall can be found in Botnsdalur Valley, an area of cragged canyons and sweeping birch forests.
It is possible to hike to the top of Glymur, thus getting numerous perspective of this powerful feature.
Hikers in Botnsdalur follow the water to reveal Glymur, the hidden treasure at the end of the canyon.
Rather than cascading straight downwards, Glymur's water tumbles and falls clumsily down the mountainside.
From atop Glymur, you will have fantastic views of the gorgeous surrounding landscape.

Join this fantastic, picturesque hiking tour through the luscious Botnsdalur valley to the majestic Glymur waterfall. This is the perfect opportunity for passionate hikers and nature enthusiasts hoping to discover Iceland's less-visited attractions.

You will begin your day by being either picked up in Iceland's capital city, Reykjavik (an optional extra), or by meeting your friendly and experienced hiking guide at the Glymur car park.

Once you have been introduced to the rest of your party, you will begin the upcoming 3-4 hour hike into Botnsdalur, a valley famed for its stunning nature—enigmatic lava fields, birch forests and immense canyons—as well as for being the home the 198m high waterfall, Glymur.  The first highlight greets you quickly as a stunning lava cave appears out of nowhere, the cave is called Þvottahellir or Washing cave. We will hike through the cave to continue our adventure admiring the beautiful lava formations.

Next, your adrenaline will be sure to be pumping as you cross a river partly bridged with a tree log, using only a rope for support.  Soon, you will start seeing a glimpse of the stunning Glymur Waterfall. This majestic waterfall is situated in a fertile oasis where a clear and joyous stream runs among moss and tall grass.

With every step, you will see more and more of the waterfall, every time a more powerful and epic view. When you have reached the top you can't help but stare at this amazing nature creation. Going up to greater elevations, you will be situated on the right side of the waterfall. There, you will cross the river again, this time above the falls, and come down on the other side, gaining every possible perspective of this impressive feature.

We will be sure to make good stops so you can take in the breathtaking view. So don't miss your chance to hike Botnsdalur valley to the sublime Glymur waterfall. Check availability by choosing a date.
