Self Drive Tours

This was one of my most favorite vacations of all time. Guide to Iceland set this up perfectly and I ran into no issues whatsoever. I plan to go to Iceland again and I will be booking through this company when I do.

We loved everything that Guide to Iceland planned for us. Before leaving the US, my husband read our self-drive itinerary completely and marked his "must see" places on Google maps. Our itinerary included essential Iceland sights as well as some off-the-beaten path ideas. All of our reservations were correct and ready for us when we arrived. I was in contact with Guide to Iceland before our trip because our ticket to Blue Lagoon had the wrong name on it, but that was quickly corrected. We live in Wyoming so we are familiar with winter driving conditions and the 4WD SUV with studded winter tires that we rented helped us feel confident even in an unfamiliar country. Having a wifi hotspot was so convenient and saved us money on international data charges with our mobile company. Thank you, Guide to Iceland, for making our vacation easy and enjoyable.

The self-guided tour was so much fun. We had the best time by being able to travel on our own schedule. Weather in March is quite unpredictable and we learned that because the weather patterns change quickly you must be prepared to drive in less than ideal conditions. Just remember it’s your vacation and safety is first so drive carefully.

Guide to Iceland is awesome. The level of customer service was great. Everyone was professional and courteous,. All of my hotels were great! The rental car was exceptional. The itinerary and the descriptions about attractions that I could see during each day's journey were well written and helpful.

We took our 3 adult daughters on this amazing tour. Every day was more event filled and exciting than the next. Everything was well organized. We were met at the airport and taken to our rental car, all the hotels and excursions were easy to find. Except for the fosshotel Baron in Reykjavik, where the rooms were marginal and the staff unfriendly, we had fabulous accommodations. All of the excursions were absolutely amazing. We especially loved the ice caving and snorkeling! I would not hesitate to recommend guide to Is for anyone traveling to Iceland and wanting a fun, spectacular and amazing adventure!

This was the most amazing trip we've ever taken! Booking through Guide to Iceland was the best idea. The information on great places to stop along the way was great. We were able to see some really fantastic and beautiful things. Our Ice Caving excursion through Team Troll was breathtaking and our guide, Halli, was informative, funny, and an all around great guy! Snorkeling at Silfra was a once in a lifetime experience everyone should do! Our guide, Pawel, was funny, experienced and made us feel safe and relaxed about taking the icy plunge! We were unable to take our glacier hike due to weather conditions, however, it gave us extra time to stop along the way and see many incredible waterfalls and ride the adorable Icelandic horses.

The 8-day Driving Tour was terrific in March. Some wild winds, some sunshine, some snowfall. Driving was an adventure but very safe. Good directions to very nice hotels. Unbelievable scenery- a postcard wherever we looked. Snorkeling in 35 degree water in the Rift was unforgettable. Walking in ice caves, feeling the spray from half-frozen HUGE waterfalls, and photographing the black sand beaches washed on one side with white waves and on the the other with white snow was spectacular. So pleasant to be on our own and able to explore at our own pace. The locals were very friendly and we never had to change money. Everything is credit card and very convenient. We would certainly repeat this trip.

It was the best trip i’ve ever taken. Everything was conveniently organized and arranged. The agent assigned to us responded quickly to every question we had and was very accommodating with our requests. This tour is well recommended if you do not have the time to plan your trip to Iceland. I just wished we were informed on how to gas up the car rental. Most of our credit/debit cards were not accepted after multiple attempts at the gas station. Other than that, it was a really great trip!

Our 10 day self drive tour was incredible! We upgraded the room to private room and bath, which gave us the added bonus of breakfast. Everywhere we stayed was quaint and beautiful. We were only disappointment with Hofn Inn Guesthouse, but we called Guide to Iceland and they were able to change our accommodation. They were friendly and easy to get a hold of, and extremely helpful. This tour provided us ample time to see everything along this route. We do not feel like we missed anything, but we were up early and in late. The car rental process was quick and easy and our car was great and got us through two snow storms with ease. We also did the blue lagoon, glacier hike, and ice cave tour. They were all wonderful. The glacier hike is an easy, beginner pace. If I had to do over again, I may book outside guide to Iceland for the moderate challenge all day glacier hike. Nonetheless, it was a once in a lifetime experience. We even saw the northern lights while staying in Hofn. We plan to travel back to Iceland to explore the Westfjords and North side in the summer and would definitely book through guide to Iceland again. I printed the itinerary, marked all the places on google maps, and made notes about places to eat and things to do along the way. They took care of the route and places to stay which made planning a 10 day trip to a country we had never been stress free. Ten stars!

Hi Guys! Iceland is a MUST to visit and doing it with Guide to Iceland self drive tour will give you complete freedom and personal experience instead of going in some bus with a bunch of strangers who want to do different things. We did glacier hiking, amazing ice caving, we soaked in thermal hot tubs, we took stunning photos of ice diamonds on a black lava beach, we saw a herd of reindeer and beautiful hairy Icelandic horses. And ,of course, many gorgeous waterfalls, famous and hidden, big and charmingly small all embellished in ice embroidery. Nature in Iceland is in such active stage all the time that you will feel its movements beneath your feet -:) You will be in awe with this land and imprinted by it forever. We visited Icelandic Lava Show in Vik - the only such show on Earth.
