My wife and I booked the 6 day trip and just returned home from a truly unforgettable experience. Working with Guide to Iceland was super easy, and they were very responses to the few questions we had ahead of our trip - including updating our shuttle when our flight was moved up. As for the itinerary, we had a fantastic time with all the activities. Having the Blue Lagoon to soak in for a few hours after a red-eye was a perfect way to recharge and refresh. Being able to explore Reykjavík the day we arrived allowed us to get familiar with the city and cover all the major picture spots ahead of the day trips. Both the Golden Circle and two-day southern coast excursions were fantastic, and our camera rolls would speak to that. We had a wonderful time seeing most of the southern half of the country and all the waterfalls, glaciers, and everything else in between. I would highly recommend them, but be aware there is a good amount of time in the bus between some activities. That doesn’t detract from the experiences though! Our whale watching trip was a little disappointing due to very rough sailing conditions meaning we didn’t see any whales (the later whale boats that day were actually cancelled). BUT we did end up adding on the Puffin Tour later in the day to get to see the puffins instead. That’s out of everyone’s control, but is something to think about when planning any add-one. I would definitely recommend this trip for any active, nature loving folks! The ONLY thing we were thrown off by was the need to pay for a bus transfer from the BSI (bus station) in Reykjavík to our hotel (stayed at Reykjavik Lights, which was awesome too!) on our arrival day. The transfer from the Blue Lagoon got us to the bus station but it wasn’t clear we needed to complete the last transfer on our own. It was only about $10 USD per person, so not expensive, but wasn’t clear in our itinerary so just an unexpected addition.

My trip to Iceland was AMAZING! It was even more magical than I had expected. Thank you Guide to Iceland for coordinating a fantastic tour. The team was very responsive to questions I had prior to the tour. I highly recommend doing the Magical 11-Day Tour with any add-ons to see as much of Iceland as you can (eg Vok Baths, ice cave (so cool, the ride there was fantastic, Hawk was great), lava cave (I've seen lava caves but this one was special and the guide was funny and informative), horseback riding, glacier hiking, etc.) We signed up for the 9-hour jeep tour but it was cancelled due to muddy conditions :( The day usually starts at 9am and each day is full ending with dinner and back to the room around 8-9pm. You do change hotels daily (except for Reykjavik, so you need to stay organized). The hotels are nice and include breakfast but not high-end (although that was not my expectation and again you are moving the next morning). I had a favorite but now can't remember the name/town, but it's off the main road, black, single story, with bungalow type rooms and the coziest gathering area. The hotel in Akureryi had very small rooms but they made up for it with the BEST breakfast, decor and proximity to city, I believe the dates I reserved had a small group of only 3 people but the Guide to Iceland team worked seamlessly with Troll to include us in their itinerary. I had three separate tour guides and all were great. I want to give a special shout out to Hilmar Johnson who was our guide for the 8-day portion. He was very organized, kind, accommodating and provided a lot of information on Iceland. A few notes: If you stay at Reykjavik Lights Hotel just know you have to take a taxi into Reykjavik as it seems close but too far to walk. There are restaurants you can walk to though. If you are a single traveler I would also suggest trying to upgrade your room as the single room is small and dorm like (the cost was minimal and you can do it through the hotel if rooms are available). I also did not realize the bus that takes you from Blue Lagoon to Reykjavik drops you off at a bus depot and you will need to coordinate your own ride with depot staff to the hotel (I did Blue Lagoon immediately after arriving in Iceland). We had a full tour van and it was still very comfortable. Thank you for this wonderful experience! I met a great group of people and discovered the beauty and magic of Iceland.

We had a fantastic 1 hour wild boat tour adventure with RIP SAFARI. Since we went in early May, the puffins were not flying to their burrows during the day and were out floating somewhere out in the ocean. But our guide Christine provided very interesting info about the birds. Best time to see them in May is early morning or late late in the evening. I understand that later in June and July, the fly back and forth to their cliffside burrows to keep their eggs warm. But even though we didn’t see puffins on the boat tour, the tour took us to several sea caves which were interesting to see. The scenery was amazing. (We did see the puffins later that night thanks to Christine’s viewing tip.). I highly recommend this booking.

Superb from start to finish! Everything ran like clockwork from the moment we landed and headed off to the Blue Lagoon for some spa time after the flight. The Bolholt Stay apartment check-in went without a hitch (brilliant that you can securely store luggage there if you arrive a little early or head away for a night like we did!). The apartments are small, clean and functional so don't expect 5* luxury but for a comfy and warm bed and hot shower they are spot-on. The fridge and cooking area are great for snacks although we ate out most of the time as there is a superrb little artisan bakery about 50 yards from the door (Braud & Co). The guided tours were excellent with a lot packed in and both the guides we had were funny. entertaining and informative and displayed a genuine care for their guests. All the attractions were all stunning (with a few small extra ones sneaked in) so difficult to pick a favourite but the highlights for us were the Glacier Lagoon by boat, the active geysirs and Skogafoss waterfall which is truly stunning with its rainbows. Also when spending time in Reykavik don't be afraid to sign-up for the Hopp scooters, a great and affordable way to get around, and we would highly recommend the Volcano Express experience at the Harpa music hall. It's not a long experience but you won't regret it!
